Barana Simmentals 2009 Sale Report
This year’s sale proved very
successful with 100% clearance and a large crowd
in attendance. All 40 bulls offered were sold
to average $5,112 and the 25 female lots offered
sold to average $3,430. Some of our clients
failed to secure the quantity of bulls they
required with many missing out altogether on the
day. Pre & post sale enquiry has been positive
with buyers looking to secure Simmental bulls
due to the contribution they make to their
commercial operation. The sale result and
comments on the day indicate strong interest &
renewed confidence in the Simmental breed.
Contrary to the report in The
Land on July 9, I did not purchase a share in
any of the bulls offered nor did I 'disperse 50
cows two years ago'. The above figures also
correct those published.
We were very pleased with the
outcome and our thanks go to our clients for
their continued & solid support.
Our 10th Annual Sale will be held
on Thursday 1st July 2010
with 60 bulls on offer [50 traditional Simmental
bulls & 10 black Simmental embryo bull calves
from Canada] along with 10 specially selected
heifers. We hope to see you there! Our best
wishes for improved seasons ahead.

Barana Simmentals 9th Annual On-Farm
Bull Sale
The Barana sale is the premier
Simmental sale in eastern Australia with the
largest offering of purebred Simmental bulls by
a single vendor. We have sold bulls nationwide
and secured a solid client base. Stud
principal, Peter Cook has worked hard over the
past 29 years breeding & showing Simmentals
reinforcing Barana’s reputation with both
commercial & stud cattle producers.
At our ninth on-property sale we
will be offering 43 bulls, predominantly polled
& including black & full red Simmentals and 10
specially selected females.
This year’s sale also includes
our friend Andrew Jamieson’s 2Diamond6
Simmentals complete stud dispersal featuring a
first class presentation of 20 females & 7
bulls.
On offer is a very productive
line of cattle that has been fine-tuned over the
years. The females are all good producers, as
can be demonstrated by the bulls in the earlier
part of the catalogue and the calves they have
at foot. There was certainly a poll aim in the
breeding program and 74% of the 2Diamond6 cattle
being offered for sale are polled.
Bulls will present in good,
strong condition. Sale bulls have been on a
ration of oaten hay, lucerne hay grain oats &
more recently grain sorghum. Of this year’s
sale draft, the majority are soft, early
maturing, middle of the road type bulls. I
believe this style of bull will introduce cattle
into your herd that will eat less, have the
ability to finish with a higher yield & put more
dollars in your pocket.
As in past sales, objective data
will be available for each bull & all
inspections & guarantees you have come to expect
from Barana will be provided. All bulls must
pass stringent tests for breeding & soundness
with the appropriate Veterinary Soundness
Certificates supplied. These bulls will also be
semen tested, Breedplan recorded & scanned for
EMA, FAT & IMF. All Barana’s registered bulls
in the sale have been DNA parentage verified.
Barana is classified in a Protected Zone, Free
of Johnes. We do not carry out any foot
trimming on any of the cattle presented.
Free cartage will be offered to
bull buyers within a 300 km radius of Barana and
for interstate bull buyers, free cartage along
the major route from Coolah to Goondiwindi &
from Coolah to Wodonga. The catalogue will be
available for preview with photos on our website
www.baranasimmentals.com.
Barana Simmentals offer quality,
guarantees, reputation, performance & results.
We look forward to seeing you on sale day. |
