our Beef Week Open Day will be held on Friday
20th Jun 08. A light lunch will be provided.

Barana Simmentals 8th Annual On-Farm
Bull Sale
The Barana sale is the premier
Simmental sale in eastern Australia with the
largest offering of purebred Simmental bulls by
a single vendor. We have sold bulls nationwide
with many repeat buyers. Stud Principal, Peter
Cook has worked hard over the past 28 years
breeding Simmentals to secure Barana’s
reputation with both commercial & stud cattle
producers.
With very little rain since
February we are once again preparing for a
return to the dry conditions experienced over
the past five years. Unfortunately, after
promising rains in December the expected return
to normal seasons did not eventuate.
At our eighth on-property sale we
will offer 51 bulls, of these, 34 are polled, 2
scurred & 14 horned and for the second year 10
specially selected heifers [6 polled & 4 horned]
in a line up equal to the best in any
breed. Also included for the first time will be
three black Simmentals. The heifers on offer
this year exhibit the superior maternal traits
for which Simmentals are renowned.
Bulls will present in good,
strong condition. By the time of the sale this
year’s draft of bulls will have been on a premix
ration of oaten hay, lucerne hay & grain barley
for around 75 days. Of this year’s sale draft,
the majority are soft, early maturing, middle of
the road type bulls. I believe this style of
bull will introduce cattle into your herd that
will eat less, have the ability to finish with a
higher yield & put more dollars in your pocket
As in past sales, objective data
will be available for each bull & all
inspections & guarantees you have come to expect
from Barana will be provided. All bulls must
pass stringent tests for breeding & soundness
with the appropriate Veterinary Soundness
Certificate provided. These bulls will also be
semen tested, Breedplan recorded and scanned for
EMA, FAT & IMF.
All registered bulls in the sale have been DNA
parentage verified. Barana is classified in a
Protected Zone, Free of Johnes. We do not carry
out any foot trimming on any of the cattle
presented.
Free cartage will be offered
within a 300 km radius of Barana and for
interstate buyers, free cartage along the major
route from Coolah to Goondiwindi & from Coolah
to Wodonga. The catalogue will be available for
