Barana bulls get results with clients reporting
Simmental cross vealers straight off their mothers consistently
dressing out at 58% & outdoing other breeds in weight for age. One
client, Bob Callan of Inverell scored a rare Championship/Reserve
double in the heavyweight division steer carcase judging at the 2006
Brisbane Royal with a Simmental x Angus sired by a Barana bull. In
May 2007, Bob topped the annual Bindaree Beef Weaner Sale with a pen
of Simmental Cross Steers and won best pen of Euro or Euro Cross
Steers in the competition section. In April this year, clients
Ron & Colleen Dean topped the Casino Weaner & Grower Sale with 10-11
months old Simmental x Hereford weaner steers and also secured the
top pen of Euro bred steers at the sale. Ron said that the
introduction of Simmental bulls to their herd had significantly
